At 2:41am Australian AEST time, Finn McCracken became the new time trial world champion, beating the defending champion and a hundred others to take the jersey. It was Finn's sixth victory of the season, although his very first victory in Division 1, having won in a race each in divisions two to six earlier in the season. For the Kiwi champion, who’s entering the twilight of his career, his sixteenth OCM tour victory where he beat star cyclists Harold Faivre & Season 52 champion Kimball Lascomb, along with defending champion Feliciano Valverde - who faded to a disappointing 17th in what has to be his last serious attempt at a 1st division title, represents the highlight of a career in faithful service to Australian outfit Australian Warlord.
Finn, who’s previous achievements include 2nd in the NT CoN Washington City TT, and victory at the final edition of Ayres Rock TT should expect a tougher time if he seeks to defend the title at age 32, for along with the march of time being against him, pre-race favourites Nikoline’s Simão Claro & Team Chili's Xavier Izzard both suffered injuries before the race & are expected to return next season.
But whatever happens in Season 55, Finn McCracken can say he was champion of World Championships ITT Season 54, even if he never wins a second Division 1 race.

CONGRATS Rustgold! Finn won a second world championship TT!!!!!!!
Wow. Freaking great outcome! Congrats. NZ has a world champion, and he's the National Champ for the same season too.
Congrats! Great and well deserved win!
If you’re gonna win one, and only one, that’s the one you want!
Congrats! very nice victory of the yearly TT lottery!
Just on another statistical note, it also represents Australian Warlord's first victory in Division 1, having a bunch of third places since entering the top tier.
